B-E-N-T. BENT! BENT! BENT! We’re the NYC women’s ultimate team, in the midst of our second year of existence. We may be new, but we have worked hard to leave an impression. As a group of varied women pulled together with the drive to be a Nationals level team, in our first year, we were:
- invited to Emerald City Classic (ECC) in Seattle to be a part of elite competitive play
- third at Northeast Women’s Club Regionals, falling just short of a Nationals bid behind two teams that finished in the top 4 in the country.
So far, our second year has proven to be just as spectacular. Despite flux in the team roster, we again achieved a bid to ECC and displayed our incredible potential for greatness at Chesapeake Open with a second place finish. We have the drive, energy, and talent to be competitive in the 2010 USA Ultimate Series. Even more importantly, we thrive on having fun both on and off the field, which is crucial for success as a team. As this season continues, expect to see the usual dominant play from veterans such as #5 – Erin Herzog and #19 – Megan Randall and some already impressive grabs and sick defense from our team newbies #8 – Whitney Viets and #10 – Marika Austin. We are excited to be a part of Philly Fusion and look forward to working with new faces to help us expand our love of ultimate throughout the boroughs.
